ForumThere are two types of fora on this website, Open Public Fora and those that have restricted access to members of the Sea Rovers Association only.
There are three classes of forum users:
If you do not have a login name set up for this forum, then you'll only be able to read the "Questions & Answers" forum. You cannot participate in the discussions by posting messages.
You can get more access by creating a Login Name for yourself, as discussed below. This is free and is required so that the Forum Administrator can properly moderate the information posted on the site.
If you have a login name you will be able to read and post to the "Questions & Answers" forum and vote in forum polls.
You can easily create your own login name by using the "Register" button at the top of the forum page. There's some information on how to create your Login Name in the "FAQ" section available by clicking the "FAQ" button also located at the top of the forum page.
Sea Rovers Association members must register and have access approved by the Commodore to read and post to the "Members Only" forum.
To get access as a Sea Rovers member, first create a Login Name (as discussed above), make sure you're logged into the forum using that login name and then send a Private Message using the forum's messaging system to 'searover' using the forum's email system.
Be sure to include your name in your message so you can be checked against the list of members.
You will be sent an email when full member access to the forum has been activated.
Once you have a Login name, and are logged in, you'll be able to set up the various fora to send you an email whenever a message is posted to a particular forum, or to a particular thread within a forum. This is so that you don't have to keep logging in every day to see if there are new messages.
You do this by clicking on the "Watch this Forum for new Topics" or "Watch this Thread for new Posts" link at the bottom of each Forum and Thread page.
For example, you might like to turn on this facility for the 'Questions and Answers' forum, then you'll be sent an email every time a new post is added to the forum.
