Sea Rovers is an association for all those who are interested in boating, fishing, sailing or in fact anything to do with the sea and ships.
Our Association was founded in 1992 with the following objectives:
For the 8 - 12 year olds Younkers or 13 to 18 year old Oldsters membership of a flotilla provides a club of their own where they may 'find the key of the keelson'. Youngsters may come as many times as they want before deciding to join, but they must come at least seven times before being able to join. This makes sure they really want to join and will get on well with the other members
World Wide Membership
If you don't live near an established flotilla and think you would like to be a Sea Rover there are two things you can do:
1. If aged between 8 and 18 you can join 'Seagull' flotilla and participate in the online activities of Sea Rovers, or
2. You can help us find a suitably qualified person (adult) who would be interested in establishing a flotilla in your area.We would like to hear from you anyway so please email us at: membership@searovers.asn.au
Affiliate Membership for 8 to 18 year olds
We accept that the Sea Rovers Association may not satisfy the requirements of every young person. For example someone who intends pursuing a career in the navy may feel joining a naval cadet unit would suit them better.
On the other hand some youngsters may wish to take advantage of the best of both worlds by joining one organisation and still participating in the activities of the other. Members of other organisations with similar objectives are accepted by the Sea Rovers Association as affiliate members and may participate as such in our activities provided always that they have fulfilled all obligations (attendance etc) to the organisation of which they are a member.
An affiliate member is deemed to hold the equivalent Sea Rover rating of any qualification for which they have been accredited by the organisation to which they belong. They are however, whilst participating in Sea Rover activities, subject to the same standards and requirements of conduct, as are Sea Rover members.
Note however that most organisations do not share our policy and you may find they require you to become a member before allowing you to participate in their activities..
For those over 18 years of age Associate Membership is available to anyone who is interested in boats, boating, the sea and ships or the marine environment. Associate members may join in the organised activities afloat with others of similar interests or simply do their own thing availing themselves of the training and other resources of the association as desired.
They may also volunteer to assist with the many and various duties necessary for the operation of the association.
Associate members who don't participate in any of the association's activities are still performing a worthwhile service to the boating community their subscriptions providing finance to purchase the equipment and facilities needed for the 'younker' members.
Ordinary Membership is available to suitably qualified persons who wish to provide their services as Instructors for the association.
